To gain the Pioneer Badge, you must complete the two compulsory targets, Campcraft and Citizenship, and one from the six elective Pioneer Targets. To gain the Pioneer Cord you must complete one Patrol Activity plus two Proficiency Badges.

This can be achieved through your participation with your Patrol or with other Scouts, and assistance from your Patrol Leader. Your Patrol Leader or Assistant Patrol Leader have an important role in assisting you to plan and understand the Award Scheme, and most importantly, to teach and test you on each component of the Pioneer Target Badges.

PIONEER CORD

The requirement for awarding the Pioneer Cord are for the Scout to have completed

• the Pioneer Badge.
• plus two Proficiency Badges.
• plus one Patrol Activity Badge.

 

Once you have completed your Pioneer Badge, your journey along the Scouting path continues. As you are aware, there are three major sign­posts and the second is the EXPLORER Badge. The Explorer Badge is designed to provide you with opportunities to help your PIL and to assist other Scouts to pass their Pioneer Target Badges by doing practical and challenging activities. To gain your Explorer Badge you must complete the two compulsory Targets, Campcraft and Citizenship, and one from the Explorer Elective Targets. To gain the Explorer Cord you must complete one Patrol Activity plus two Proficiency Badges, giving you a total of two Patrol Activities and four Proficiency Badges.

You have an important role in assisting your Patrol members to plan and understand the Award Scheme, but most importantly, to teach and assist your fellow Patrol members with the support of the Patrol Leader and Scout Leaders, in each component of their Pioneer Target Badges, and in turn achieve your own Explorer Targets.

EXPLORER CORD

The requirement for awarding the Explorer Cord are for the Scout to have completed

§         plus two Proficiency Badges, making a total of four Proficiency Badges.

§         plus one Patrol Activity Badge making a total of two Patrol Activity Badges

Now you will want to earn your next target – the EXPLORER Badge.

You must complete Campcraft and Citizenship and then one of the Elective targets.

You have now reached the final major signpost along the Scouting path, the ADVENTURER Badge. The Adventurer Badge is designed to provide you with opportunities to teach and test other Scouts to pass their Pioneer and Explorer targets. This is your opportunity to pass on the knowledge and skills you have gained on your journey by teaching and using your knowledge to organise practical and challenging activities.
